Another of the coolest looks for a rod is suicide doors. i've always wanted a 65 Lincoln continental. the way those look with the door handles side by side just can't be beat. but, actually converting your car to suicide doors is kind of like sex, its a painstaking, arduous task that seems to go on and on, and just when you think you are getting somewhere, nothing happens. just kidding. but it is quite a daunting task. it requires lots of time, energy and skills to get the job done right. thats why there is no way in the world that i would attempt this myself.
So, how about just having the look of suicide doors? this is just the ticket for me. After shaving the rear door handles on my car, my wife was looking at it and asked if i still had the handles that i took off. i said yes, why? she said i should bolt the handles on to the door so that it looked like suicide doors. i said, thats a great idea! she said, that she was just joking. but i said no way! its a great idea!
i used my sawsall to cut off the part of the handle that protrudes into the door, so that it would bolt on flush to the door skin.i eyeballed the position and marked around the handle. i measured where the bolt holes were and marked and punched a spot to drill. i drilled the holes, removed the door panels from inside the door, and bolted on the handle.
not bad huh? approx. 30 minutes per side start to finish. and i have the coolest looking olds 98 ever! at least in my opinion.
