lowering your ride adds a look of lowrider style. the easiest way to lower your ride is to cut down your coil springs.
i wanted a tail dragger stance so, i decided to cut my rear springs. Actually i want to cut down the front springs a little too, but i want to wait until i rebuild the front suspension to cut the springs.
the rear springs are easy. just jack up the rear of the car and support it with jackstands. use a floor jack to support the rear end. remove the lower shock nut. unhook the shock. lower the jack so that rear end comes down releasing the tension on the springs. pull out the springs keeping the left and right spring seperated so you know which is which. i measured the spring height. then decided how much to cut off, and marked the spot with tape.
i used a die grinder with a cut off disk to cut the springs.
once the springs are cut, just re-install. i cut off a total of 1 1/2 " off the height.
