i made a kustom air cleaner lid today. i saw a pic in a car mag a guy made an air cleaner housing from two dog dish style hubcaps. i wanted to try my own variation. i have a 14 inch chrome air cleaner on my holley, so i thought i would test fit one of the hubcaps that i took off to see how it fit on my air filter. guess what? it was very close, and looked good, so i decided to go for it.

i cut off the lip/tang that holds the hubcap to the wheel. i used my air chisel and my die grinder. i drilled through the center of the hubcap with a drillbit the same size as the air filter stud so that the hubcap would thread onto the stud, eliminating the need for a wing nut.
sweeet! huh? i think so.
