spring is finally here!! now is the time of year i get excited about working on my car. my garage is full, and even if it wasn't, its not heated or insulated. it too cold to work on my car in the driveway in the winter. so, now the fun begins.i've already done a couple of things done a couple of small things. i kind of dropped the ball as far as taking pictures goes.i've added a 40 ounce windshield washer fluid reservoir, a bumper cutout, and kustom exhaust tip. i added a kustom coolant overflow tank last fall, i don't remember if mentioned it on here or not. i'll include a pic here and a how-to page later.
its kind of hard to see the cutout in this pic. i used a sharpie and a beer can to mark a half round shape on my bumper, then masked around the shape before cutting. a sawsall and metal cutting blade worked really well. i was surprised how easy it cut. i had trouble making the curve. i had to cut up vertically and take out 3 or 4 chunks to get close to the shape. i used a grinding stone on my die grinder to round and smooth the edges. i also slit a piece vacuum hose and put it over the edge to give it a more finished look.
the reason for the cutout was that my old tailpipe always dragged when i pulled into my driveway, its uphill. so, i didn't want to squish my vintage, tin, tall boy can so i cut out the bumper. the cutout came out a little too big. i had a chrome exhaust tip with a turndown and decided to turn it upside down (or downside up) to help fill in the cutout hole.
the greaserama car show stickers work nicely to cover the holes where my trunk emblems were.
the washer fluid reservoir bracket looks like it was made for a 40 oz. bottle doesn't it ?
i had to squeeze the sides of the bracket for a tight fit. and in order to squeeze the sides, i had to cut the bottom support. you can see how much overlap there is. a shot a screw through the sections for some added stability. the coolant overflow is one of those mini, mini kegs. i saw this at a party and took it home. is that cool or what. don't say "or what" it is cool. its secured with tarp straps.
